An arcade trackball may look like a simple panel control, yet a replacement depends on the complete assembly: the front opening, the mount under the panel, the available depth, the signal connection and the route a technician will use to service it. Before ordering by appearance or product name, record what the existing cabinet actually needs. The same checklist also helps when specifying a trackball for a new golf, arcade or simulation machine.
Document the installed control
Start with the old assembly and the finished control panel, not a catalogue photograph. Remove the panel only under your normal safe service procedure, and record the following:
- Front geometry: the visible ball and bezel, panel opening, finish or overlay around the opening, and clearance from neighboring controls.
- Mounting: the fixing-hole pattern, fastener access, panel stack thickness, and any bracket or spacer used with the old unit.
- Rear space: depth below the panel, nearby components, harness routing and room to remove the unit later.
- Identity: photographs of the front, underside, connector and any readable label or part number.
Measure from the actual finished panel or an approved drawing. A matching ball appearance does not establish that the mounting plate or rear housing will fit. For the available models, begin with the BAOLIAN trackball category, then compare dimensions against the current drawing for the exact item.
Check electrical and lighting requirements separately
Record the host controller, connector, harness, supply and expected motion signal before choosing a mechanical layout. BAOLIAN’s two listed trackball products both describe optical tracking, but their public product pages do not provide a complete interface or pinout. Ask for the current electrical drawing and confirm compatibility with the target controller rather than assuming that two optical modules connect in the same way.
If lighting is part of the cabinet design, specify whether it must be present, how it is powered, and what visual effect is expected. The mechanical fit, motion interface and illumination should be reviewed as separate requirements so a satisfactory sample does not hide a later wiring change.
Compare the current models as starting points
The H-Type Illuminated Trackball Controller, code 10106600, is listed for simulation, arcade and golf machines. Its catalogue entry shows white and clear color options and lists illuminated and non-illuminated specifications. Confirm the exact version being quoted, since the product name alone does not identify every option.
The OctaTrack Pro (5mm), code 10807008, is listed for simulation and arcade machines and described with an octagonal housing and optical tracking. Treat “5mm” as part of the published model name; do not use it as a panel-cutout measurement without the product drawing. These are comparison points, not drop-in compatibility promises.
Approve the assembly with a sample
Install the candidate in a production-equivalent panel with the intended finish and harness. Check the front appearance, fastener access, full rolling movement, direction response on the actual host controller, any required lighting, and access for later cleaning or replacement. Photograph the approved installation and record the exact part code, variant, drawing revision and connector arrangement. Our sample-testing guide explains why a controlled trial matters before a bulk purchase.
For a useful quotation, send BAOLIAN the panel drawing, old-unit photographs, host/controller information, lighting requirement, estimated quantity and destination. That gives engineering and sales a concrete basis to confirm which current trackball configuration, if any, fits the project.
